About Derek and Genevieve are two of the main characters in the 2006 Barbie movie, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses. Genevieve is the seventh Princess in her family, and Derek is the Royal Cobbler who makes beautiful dancing shoes for Genevieve and her eleven sisters. What is so special about Genevieve is that she is in love with Derek. He does not know it, although her sisters tease her about it often. Derek returns her strong feelings of love, although she does not know it. (*sigh*, isn't this such irony). Derek believes he is not good enough for her, as he is a Cobbler and Genevieve is a Princess. Derek often stares at Genevieve as she dances, and his bird Felix is often giving Genevieve clear hints that Derek loves her. At times Derek is interrupted as he stares, and it is so romantic how he stares at her.
