Kylie Morgan
In Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2, Merliah is set to compete at the world surfing championship, and her toughest competition is Kylie Morgan, a surfer from Australia. From the get-go, it is clear that Kylie is more than a little envious of Merliah, and while preparing for the competition, a fish gets her attention by talking to her. He tells her that if she wants to know the secret that Merliah has, he should take her shell necklace and follow him underwater. There, she transforms and gains a mermaid fin, and follows him. He tricks her, making her fall into the whirlpool that was holding Eris captive.
I won't spoil too much of the movie as it is fairly recent, but I want to say that I really love Kylie's character. From the beginning, even though she is envious of Merliah, it is clear she hesitates when the fish tells her to a) steal the necklace from Merliah, and b) follow him. She clearly wants to win very badly, but her hesitation shows that she is not so bad after all. She regrets taking the necklace and when Merliah saves her from the whirlpool, she apologizes and tells her that she owes her, and wants to help.
I really love the ending of the film, and I feel that Merliah has gained a great friend. Plus, Kylie has an awesome accent! :)
